The prodigious Frenchman Habstrakt closes out the calendar year in trademark style.

It’s becoming apparent with every Habstrakt release that he is instilling himself as one of the most prevalent original voices within the bass scene. The Tension EP is his latest offering on Never Say Die, filled with four distinct tracks all displaying elements that remind us why the likes of Flux Pavilion, Datsik, Rusko continually champion the young talent. With the cheeky triplet dubstep opener ‘Gluttony’ and inventive “Lady” to the effortlessly French 110 tinged sounds of “Tension” and “Mantis”, Habstrakt has once again displayed the flawless dexterity of his productions.

TERRAVITA (USA)

Terravita was formed in 2004 when Chris Barlow, Matt Simmers and Jon Spero joined forces after meeting in the drum & bass scene in New England. The group was first picked up in 2006 by Maldini & Vegas’s Bad Taste Recordings, releasing 4 tunes with them on their Bad Taste 2 LP. Shortly thereafter Simon Bassline Smith signed the group to a deal with his Technique Recordings label. Terravita released 4 singles with Technique before parting ways including the jump up hit “Adult Robot Kung Fu”. Since parting ways with Technique, Terravita has released several tunes with Subsonik Sound as well as a remix of AK1200′s rave anthem “Drowning” that hit #4 on the Beatport Drum & Bass Charts. In November of 2010, Terravita released “Up In the Club” on Beta Recordings, which hit #4 on the Dubstep charts and #94 on the Overall charts on Beatport, while “Lockdown” broke the top 10 on Beatport’s dubstep charts. In January of 2011, Terravita release their debut EP on Rottun. “Freak Out” and “The Beat Goes On” both hit #6 on Beatport’s dubstep charts, while “Break The System” hit #2 on Beatport’s dubstep charts.

KILLAFOE
[https://www.facebook.com/Killaf0e]

Evan Scott aka Killafoe first discovered music at the age of 6, learning Piano from his father who is a professional musician. In his early teens he was in several punk and funk bands before his older brother introduced him to drum & bass. He was inspired to mix after attending his first all ages rave and was blown away by what he saw. He acquired his first set of decks soon after at the tender age of 14. After learning to DJ his attention quickly turned to production, it was around this time that he met up with Daniel Jensen Aka J Switch, and Killswitch was born.

2012 is set to be the year of Killafoe, with his biggest release yet being released under JD4D Records.

JD4D
[https://www.facebook.com/JesusDied4Dubstep]

Jaydee Fordee maintains an untarnished reputation as a consistent dance floor crushing DJ with the most unquestionably epic dubplates in the southern hemisphere.

J.SWITCH
[https://www.facebook.com/jswitch666]

J Switch is the musically minded alter ego of Daniel Jensen from Perth Western Australia. J Switch’s music career started at an early age of 13 as a guitarist for various Heavy/Thrash Metal Bands. Writing compositions and performing live acts was just the intro into a world of music madness.

Now 5 years later with various Drum and Bass and Dubstep releases on labels such as Mindsaw, Dubsaw, Order In Kaos, Distortion, FoulPlay, Betamorph, Hells Bassment, Cerabral Destruction and Dark Box and more the door is open more then ever to a world of worn torn destruction.

DR.SPACE

Circus Records has just sent us an email about the forthcoming Dogfight EP from Roksonix and they have also uploaded a video previewing tracks from this EP. The video give you a taste of each track and from what I’ve heard already, this is going to be a huge release! Every track is heavy and bass-dropping, make sure to buy this EP when it comes out.

After riding the wave of success in a somewhat whirlwind year that has seen them go from strength to strength with Flux Pavilion and Doctor P‘s Circus Records, Roksonix gear up to release ‘Dogfight EP’ on 25th November via Circus Records.

Roksonix produce high-octane and energetic bass music; ‘Dogfight’ is no exception. Weaving melodic basslines through squelchy beats on the title track, and ‘About The Bass’, Roksonix prove that there’s always a tune to be found in even the hardest and darkest of places.

Switching things up on the second half of the EP, ‘Ride With Me’ and ‘Breaking Me Down’ introduce a vocal-led versatility to Roksonix and demonstrate just how effortlessly these guys can weave vocals alongside video-game beats.

A producer/DJ double act from North London, Roksonix are Guy Abbott and Phil Desborough. Having hit the four million play mark with their early efforts through Soundcloud, Roksonix caught the attention of Circus in 2010 after remixing co-founder Flux Pavilion’s ‘Voscillate’. Now, having toured through Australia and Canada, with DJ support from the likes of Skrillex and Rusko and remixes for Maverick Sabre and Nero under their increasingly bulging belt, Roksonix look set to only continue their hugely impressive success even further.

The Dogfight EP is due out on the 25th November, here’s a taster of the tracks below on YouTube.

Tracklist:
1. Roksonix – Dogfight
2. Roksonix – About The Bass
3. Roksonix – Ride With Me

SKisM – The Division Series Part 4

Kick it ft Zomboy / Dirtyloud Rmx

NEVER SAY DIE RECORDS – NSDX034
Worldwide release date 26h November 2012

New release from Never Say Die Records: While the notorious ‘Experts’ video still reverberates in the cold dead hearts of YouTube trolls worldwide, SKisM strikes while the iron is hot and brings the Division EP to a stunning finale with a little help from label mate Zomboy.

The second collaborative effort from the two NSD heavyweights comes in the form of the funk-fuelled monster that is ‘Kick It’. Wacky disco sampling and crazy synth edits make this a dubstep tune quite unlike any other, and is possibly the most anticipated part of the Division series.

On the flip, Brazilian electro superstars Dirtyloud have delivered a remix of outstanding class. Taking a more minimal approach to the modern complextro sound, the duo has managed to keep the vibe of the original while twisting it into a peak time 4×4 stomper. A link to the Remix can be found below.

‘Division Series Part 4′ is available worldwide on 26th November.

Rollz – ‘The Firepod EP’

(Pilot Records)

Release Date: 26th November 2012

Having ascended the bass music ranks with startling speed, Rollz is quickly garnering the attention of all the right people with his intricate, emotive and powerful productions. The past year Rollz has become an increasingly prominent force in bass music, picking up support from a number of heavy hitters including BBC Radio One tastemakers Zane Lowe and Annie Mac. Now capping off a stellar year this prodigious talent is returning to Pilot Records with his new ‘Firepod’ EP which is set for release on 26th November.

EP opener ‘Alive’ featuring Takura showcases just why there is so much excitement surrounding this thoroughly uncategorizable producer and has been championed as a staple in Knife Party’s sets over the summer. Open on a soft wash of melody and the soulful vocals of Takura, the track’s breakdown unravels into a heavy 4/4 stomp and a splayed bassline that reverberates through the track. For those whole like their beats pure, the EP also comes with the instrumental for additional club artillery. Up next, ‘Isotonic’s’ shimmering synths are quickly absorbed into a high energy blend of concrete drums and growling bass, aided by the deft melodic flourishes. ‘Triple A’ opens softly with its sweeping pads and ethereal flickering synths, disappearing into silence only to emerge with a renewed energy as Rollz unleashes tight drum & bass breaks, burrowing bass and flashes of colour. Completing the package, ‘Madrid’ eases in with an introduction full of street life ambience evocative of the hustle and bustle of city sounds and textures. The delicate piano melody and soft female vocal emerge from this ether before the record spontaneously dives into an upbeat dance floor filler backed by rolling bass and bumpy grooves.

The five-track ‘Firepod’ EP is a collection of finely tuned records that blend an eclectic array of influences, reinvented as something entirely new and unique. With the young producer being tipped for greatness by a number of electronic music’s heavyweights, with over five million hits on YouTube, with music on Pilot Records, Hospital, Ministry of Sound, and even 21st Century Fox, Rollz has earned his respected reputation and is set to continue his ascent right through 2013. Having recently remixed Example’s next track ‘Close Enemies’ and Labrinth & Emeli Sande’s number 1 track ‘Beneath Your Beautiful’, Rollz’s production talent is in high demand.

The Queen of UK Bass, Ayah Marar, is back and ready to take her crown.

Fresh from a packed Summer splitting her time between a string of festival slots and busy studio sessions, Ayah is intent on keeping her foot firmly on the gas. With the release of her eagerly anticipated debut album ‘The Real’ imminent, Ayah Marar is ready to drop third single and future clubber’s anthem ‘The Raver’ on UKF founder Luke Hood’s new label, Pilot Records. Following standout singles ‘Mind Controller’ and ‘Unstoppable’, ‘The Raver’ reveals yet another string to her bow, a love letter to the hedonistic world of underground dance music that has made her the artist that she is.

Primed and ready for the dance floor, it perfectly encapsulates the fresh collision between underground dance music and strong pop sensibilities that has seen Ayah’s stock rise so rapidly over the last twelve months. At once powerful and undeniably infectious, the fusion of Artificial Intelligence’s dark, bass heavy production and her smooth, strong vocals proves unstoppable. Anchored by the track’s warping bassline and rattling drum breaks, Ayah’s incendiary delivery and well-crafted hooks take centre stage, a fiery call to arms.

The last twelve months have been a whirlwind for the multi-talented singer, rising from underground icon to fully fledged artist. Having earned her stripes working with revered drum and bass labels Metalheadz and Hospital Records – not to mention dance music behemoth Ministry Of Sound – touring Europe and holding down her own residency at Herbal, since the release of her debut single ‘Mind Controller’ earlier this year things have been on a consistently upwards trajectory. Coming off the back of a support tour for Example, a host of festival shows and studio sessions with the likes of Calvin Harris and DJ Fresh, Ayah’s star is most definitely in the ascendent.
The new video for the single stays true to the subject matter following Ayah and her crew as they descend on a rave, only emerging back out as the sun is coming up again…

Ayah Marar – ‘The Raver’ (produced by Artificial Intelligence) is released 9th December on Pilot Records with remixes from Xilent, South Central, Ray Foxx, Mutated Forms and Kenny Soufflé.

Dillon is a young DJ/producer from Los Angeles’, known for being one of the biggest names in Moombahton who has quickly risen to reputable heights in the electronic music world. He is supported and singed to Diplo’s Mad Decent label, and worked with and released an EP on Skrillex’s OWSLA label. Known for his world class remixes as well as his own releases such as ‘IDGAFOS’ and ‘Masta Blasta’ that have been supported by world renowned producer/DJ’s including Diplo, Flux Pavilion, Sinden, Steve Aoki and Rusko. DubZone editor Miranda, was thrilled to be given the last-minute opportunity to have a small conversation with this cheeky lad before we can catch him live as he goes on his debut Australia tour.

How did you come up with the name Dillon Francis?

I just thought to myself if somebody like Calvin Harris can make a career using his real name.. why can’t I?

You’re widely known as one of the leading names in the Moombahton genre but how would you describe the genre to those that are not so familiar with it?

It’s sort of a hybrid genre.. sounds take influence from electronic music and it’s brought to a tempo around 110 bpm rather than 128 bpm. That’s how I created my single Masta Blasta.. it was really fast and I slowed it down to a moombahton tempo.

What do you see for the future of Moombahton?

Lots of booty shakings.

Dubstep has obviously changed a lot in recent years, do you have any thoughts on the direction it has taken?

Since it exploded in the states, I think it’s going to be a lot harder to stand out.

You’ve achieved a lot in your early career already Dillon especially being signed to Diplo’s and Skrillex’s label but is there anything missing from your career that you’d like to accomplish?

I want to collaborate with Taco Bell.

You have collaborated with great artists such as Kill the Noise, A-Trak and Doctor P, is there anymore artists you want to work with that you have not yet had the opportunity to work with?

Tons.. I think I might explore getting some more rappers on my tracks like I did with my new tune w/ Calvin Harris ft. Dizzee Rascal.. but who knows!

This possible troll picture that you uploaded on facebook about a side project KITTEN PARTY, is this for real or not?

Hahahahhaha. I guess everybody will have to see.

What were you doing before you became a hilarious famous music artist?

Being a punk kid!

Do you know any up and coming future stars who we should keep an eye out for?

MITTENS FRANCIS

For Stereosonic festival, will this be your first debut tour to Australia?

Yes!

What can the Australia crowd expect from your set when you perform @ Stereosonic?

Tons of eneRgy!!!

XKore (Matt Cavender) is an 18 year old dubstep/drumstep producer based in Kent, in the South-East of the UK. He first started out 4 years ago producing house and progressive trance. However his style eventually evolved into what it is today, a blend of dubstep, drumstep, electro, drum and bass as well as other styles of bass music. House and trance acts such as Signalrunners, Spencer & Hill and Klaas were some of his early influences, and what got him into electronic dance music. Through experimentation and influence from popular bands such as Pendulum and Noisia, XKore developed a more
bass orientated style. XKore is being seen as an up and coming talent within the dubstep community, being supported by artists such as Skream, Benga, Knife Party, Camo & Krooked, Borgore, and
many others.http://soundcloud.com/xkore

F3TCH (Adel) [Atom Recordings, Rottun]

Australian based DJ/ Producer/ Turntablist/MC turning heads in the
Worldwide Bass music scene. Producing various genres of electronic music over the last 10 years it wasn’t until 2010 that he started to get serious and focus on making Dubstep. Within a few months of producing he was signed to powerhouse American record label Play Me. The single “Rawness” charted in the top 10 on Beatportand peaked at number 8. Following this success he was approached by esteemed UK label Chronos Records to be included in their next compilation album. This release yielded another consecutive top 10 on Beatport for F3tch, this time being the number 3 spot in the top 100 Dubstep charts.http://soundcloud.com/f3tch

ZANETIC (WA) [Screwloose]

Hailing from Australia’s epicentre of bass music, Perth producer Zanetic has recently been busy concocting his own style of crafty, bass heavy sounds. The last year has seen him release three EPs, as well as remixes for Swedish wonderkid Teknian, amongst others. Now he’s ready to drop the mammoth Symmetry EP, which sees him broaden his horizons from dubstep to bring his contorted basslines to the worlds of glitch-hop and drum and bass. His tunes have seen DJ support from scene heavyweights such as KOAN Sound, Cutline, Fred V & Grafix, Metrik, and Akira Kiteshi, as well as receiving regular nationwide radio play on Triple J. When Zanetic hasn’t been kept busy breaking things in his studio whilst attempting to bring his music to life, he has DJ’d alongside names such as Truth, Icicle, XKore, Liquid Stranger and Kryptic Minds. With a bag of glitchy and gritty new music in the works, expect a bunch more from this name soon.http://soundcloud.com/zanetic

Japan 4 feat KID KENOBI

Saturday 1 December 2012 – Doors open 10pm

@ Ambar (104 Murray Street, Perth)

The sounds of Kid Kenobi are set to fall into your mind on Saturday 1 December at Perth’s #1 night, Japan 4.

It’s impossible trying to reel off all the accolades of our favourite Kid; it’s almost become a cliché to say there isn’t much left for him to do. And yet perhaps the Kids greatest triumph of all is his ability to keep on evolving and growing as an artist. Music trends come and go, clubbers retire, scenes change, and awards gather dust but Kid Kenobi, it seems, is here to stay.

Just to make sure he has absolutely no spare time whatsoever Kid Kenobi also decided to set up his own highly successful independent record label Klub Kids – home to such acts as Phetsta, Karton, Surecut Kids, Spenda C, Northie, J-Trick, and Conway, as well as Too Fresh and Kid Kenobi himself. Kid Kenobi has made no secret of his aim of bringing back a certain ‘specialness’ to club culture – is it fair to say this will be a first-hand demonstration? Why, yes.

You’re Obi-Wan’ing already, aren’t you?
